This need to over compensate my blackness.
I had to take a step back and laugh thought about their words and asked
Does my knowledge of our past make you insecure? You claim to be for progression and reparations, but you couldn’t tell me the difference between Nat Turner or Ike Turner. You can’t tell me why you’d qualify as a member of the Talented Tenth, couldn’t tell me a founding father of the Black Panther Party of Self Defense. Bet you didn’t know black hair care products produced the first black millionaire and that the traffic lights that keep you alive came from the brain of a black man."
See the shade of my black has nothing to do with my knowledge. I acknowledge our past and work towards our future. Like other lighter complected blacks too. Huey P Newton, Angela Davis, Cornell West, Kathleen Clever, Malcolm X, Barack Obama.
I might not be the same shade as Paul Robeson, but I have the same goals.
Yes, Marcus Garvey may be darker than me, but it doesn’t mean he’s blacker than me.
What about the W.E.B DuBois’s who worked for the progression of all of us?

If my plethora of information about our ancestry bothers you I suggest you grab an abundance of your own and cure the "Paper Bag Test Syndrome" your words spew and not give a fuck about If I am light skinned, nigga.
