Black Bottom Archives is a community archive committed to protecting, preserving, and amplifying Black Detroit stories. We use storytelling as a way to combat the erasure and whitewashing of our Black Detroit stories.

The People of Black Bottom Archives (BBA) Black Bottom Archives is a Black-centered and Black-led organization sustained by a vibrant, interconnected network of individuals and groups, past and present, who contribute to preserving and amplifying Black Detroit’s history. Together, we reflect the strength, resilience, and creativity of a community deeply committed to honoring its legacy. More affectionately known as our Kinfolk.
