The purpose of M.I. HBCU Day of Service is to provide an opportunity for HBCU students, recent graduates, alum, faculty/staff members and supporters to network and engage with one another while serving the communities that need and want their help.
For decades, HBCUs across the nation have emphasized the importance of the Sankofa tradition meaning to reach back and pull forward. The M.I. HBCU Day of Service strives to carry-out this tradition in Metro- Detroit neighborhoods. It is now, more than ever, that we must showcase the excellence that HBCUs produce and share that excellence with our own communities.
M.I. HBCU Day of Service volunteers will prepare packets of in-kind donations and distribute them to individual persons as well as shelters that have identified specific needs.
