Crown City is a compilation of Detroit-bred visualist Bree Gant's current projects, centered around identity and community. The affectionately titled Lost&Crowned contemporary self-portrait series is a question (and answer) of self-acceptance, largely created during a residency with 555 Nonprofit Gallery & Studios. I've supported this work with portraits from RockCity Lookbook. These Detroit creators have moved me to take a long hard look at who I am, smile and give thanks.
