On Saturday, May 14th, New Leaders Council Progressive Action Initiative (NLC4) will be hosting a policy forum, Building America’s Communities: A Conversation on Inequality and Opportunity in Detroit, MI. The NLC Detroit Chapter will be co-hosting this special event with the NLC National Leadership Team to focus the conversation on Detroit and around the Midwest about issues of inequality, but highlighting how private investment from individuals, foundation and corporations have had an impact on revitalizing communities that mirror similar conditions that exist in the city of Detroit. 

The Building America’s Communities conversation will provide a comparative analysis between local issues and the issues the region and the nation are facing; the conversation will convene local and national leaders and experts to critically analyze the current context of various social justice issues impacting Detroit and propose and share evidence based policy solutions to these challenges.
